This piece of brick was from a corner of a large brick. I started to paint it and combine the colours but also sticking lightly to show the bricks rough texture. I then wanted to add a rod to this house so used clay then I gradually built this up adding in paper.
The blue piece brick I wanted to experiment with its shape and adding layers onto it. The shapes painted on are block colours I wanted each section to stand out.
Brick Houses
The brick houses have been made to show work in relation to labour I have done as a woman. I started to help my boyfriend Jamie knock down a brick wall in the garden. The bricks started to fall and then they started to form. I carried pieces of bricks over to the other side of the garden and stacked them, subconsciously I was making a structure. I started making towers from these pieces. This job was carried out in the middle of November.
I reflected upon this and started to think the bricks where part of a wall the grounds of a house. I wanted to use the concrete structure within my work and just like painting the brown payslip envelopes I started to do the same to the small chunks of bricks that where left as rubble on the ground.
